Conferences have a way of tiring one out, and I was tired going in. Didn't take much by way of notes this time, but I can report what I thought were the best two talks of the day for me. In first place was Stafford Masie of Novell South Africa reinforcing that Linux is ready for the mainstream. Stafford's incredibly passionate and enthusiastic, and it really came through. Second place is to my first boss and someone I've worked with since then, Alan Levin of Radian, making a good argument about the ten ways Open Source builds society.

I'm not quite sure how my talk went. It was by far the most technical talk of the day. There were no questions from the floor afterwards.

However, some people said they were happy getting out of the clouds of talking Open Source and getting some meaty technical stuff out of the conference too. They tended to be people who've been to most of the conferences I've been to this year. Yes, we get tired of hearing about how Open Source is going to be the next best thing...

Others came over and asked a few questions in private. However, I quickly started craving some Rooibos to calm down. Strangely, I didn't feel any more nervous than usual when I was talking, but afterwards it hit me quite considerably. This was my first speaking event in front of a full conference audience - always had break-away rooms before. Hopefully next time it'll be better.
