Well, not so much of a farewell for me, since Adrian (whose web site is a bit broken currently) is coming down to Cape Town for a bit. After the LPA AGM, I went home with Anton (CTO of Obsidian, probably the coolest Linux company in the country) to attend Adrian's farewell.
It had been a while since I last saw many of the people I've met before at the party, and catching up was great. I also met a few people I knew only via some online communication. And, scarily, many knew me by reputation.
Needless to say, I left just before 8am to have some well-needed breakfast after my first sleepless night in years (although Africa Source last year came close). It was originally planned to be brunch, but I just couldn't hold out. I had my first caffeinated drink since Africa Source. The resultant buzz from being caffeine-enhancement-free for a year was exquisite - those already attuned to caffeine would not have had quite the same result.
