Jaco's 21st

Tags: , ,

They grow up so quickly. Or something. I've mistakenly thought Barendjie was over 21 for years, so I can't say I feel that. Anyway, Jaco threw a massive 21st supper at Banana Jam in Cape Town, with about 40 people.

So besides Jaco and myself, other bloggers were there: Guy, Garth, Pieter, and newcomer Aubrey.

Banana Jam's idea of a margarita varies. Firstly, when someone asks for a margarita, the only valid question is asking if you want it frozen. Not something about strawberry. Ick - I would've been rather specific if I'd wanted one of those. Anyway, the latter two margaritas were a whole lot better than the first.

Banana Jam otherwise seems like a nice catered venue, with quite a variety of starters and meals (but seemingly only alcoholic beverages) in the set menu. Food's decent and portions satisfying, but nothing spectacular. Starters were appreciated - chilli poppers, calamari, mussels, and chicken wings.

Thereafter, we headed to Jaco's favourite spot, Corner House (he loves it so much, he made a web page). Was less crowded than usual (may be a Saturday night thing), and the music was decent (still probably the best place I know of in Cape Town for the sort of music I like). Guy, Garth, and I were about the only people consistently dancing, otherwise there was a big congregation of birthdaygoers on the pavement.

Jaco displayed some atheletic prowess running away from Guy and performing gymnastics whilst held upside-down, but paid back by glittering everyone else. (Although, he will be known as Glitter-Boy for his self-coverage...)

Wound up at about 2:15, which is quite respectable...
