Settled in
11 Aug 2004
My computer has finally got a place to live in my new home, although I think I'll miss it not having one. Jeremy reclaimed the dining room table I'd been using, leaving me without a desk in my study. And it's not like it was worth buying and setting anything up before the carpets were cleaned (twice!). Already I can't imagine not having a separate study...
In other areas, we're pretty much settled in. A territorial fight over parking was silently settled, and there's actually a way into and out of our parking now.
Carpets downstairs are still wet from the cleaning yesterday, but thankfully all the stains and smells we inherited are gone. On that front, Jeremy's just heard that he's going to get the Golden Retriever puppy he's been going on about for the past few weeks.
Bookshelves are still a mess, and there's still a box filled with stuff that needs new homes, but I think qualify as settled in.
Remind me not to move any time soon.
And remind me that no matter how much extra space your new place has, it'll never have enough space for all the stuff you had in your smaller place. And that's after an entire evaluation and throw-away process.
Guess being settled in means we're due to have a housewarming. The entire concept of being able to invite people over to visit is still incredibly foreign to me (although I understand a stocked up liquor cabinet is a requisite).
