After finally finishing both Chronicles of Thomas Covenant series (it only took 18 weeks), I was out of book. Jeremy'd ordered the Last Herald-Mage series by Mercedes Lackey. Summary: A must-read/classic fantasy series.

Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter is a comic novel by Mario Vargas Llosa (of Death in the Andes and The War of the End of the World fame) written (in Spanish) in 1977. It is a story in two entwined halves: one is the ascending autobiographical account of the aspiring writer, who falls in love with his divorced "Aunt-in-law" Julia, the other is the contrasting descent of Pedro Camacho, the famed author of radio soap operas for Mario's employer. While I somewhat had the plot spoiled for me, it was hilarious nonetheless to discover just quite how it was accomplished. Definitely one of the best books I've read - I had no idea a translation could achieve this level of flow and consistency, especially where there's witty wordplay involved. Can't recommend it enough, although it's probably one of those love-or-hate books.
