Wonderdog extraordinaire Dante now has his own pet, Sidney. Also known as "Newdog", Sidney is a 9 week old Staffordshire Terrier/Labrador cross we discovered through a friend of Jeremy's. Dante seems to have overcome his worry over her size, and seems to enjoy playing with her by landing on her mid-dash or crashing into her mis-dash.

Yes, more pictures of Dante. Dante has his first thunderstorm a few days back, bringing with it quite a bit of rain, which interacted well with Dante's proclivity for digging. He's also been going to the park reasonably regularly since the last set of pictures, and seems to use up at least 1% of his energy...

Post-Fiesta

The Fiesta is over, and I'm taking to bed for the well-positioned public holiday. I've posted pictures of the Internet Fiesta from the first day. I think we learned a lot of lessons from this first Internet Fiesta in South Africa, and this will be useful if the talk of further Fiestas in the country becomes reality.

Zenobia (famous for her creative birthday locales) threw a birthday bash under a marquee at Seidelberg (previously De Leeuwen Jagt). As background, the discomfort index was 39 degrees that day...
Our friends at Tectonic have a story on the record-setting LPI exam day. I've also uploaded some pics into LPI exam gallery.

Obedience training for Dante started today after the long school holiday break. After some pre-lesson excitement which left me with scratch-marks on my feet (note to self: wear shoes to training), he calmed down and was reasonably well-behaved for the class with Jeremy.

Bokram Beach

On Wednesday we figured we'd take advantage of the weather (not too hot for me, not too cold for Jeremy) to go to the beach. We headed for Noordhoek Beach, since it was one we were told allowed dogs. We got a bit lost around Kommetjie, and headed to what seems to be Bokram Beach instead. There were plenty of dogs around for Dante to play with, and he seemed to enjoy the sea (even if we found it rather freezing).

One of the great things about living where I do, is that there are wine farms less than two kilometres away, including Groot Constantia, the oldest wine farm in the country. On late Tuesday afternoon we headed off to have a picnic there.

Cape Point

Not being ones to celebrate a religious holiday in this time period, I managed to convince Jeremy that we visit Cape Point on the 25th. We walked up to the old lighthouse, and them around to the new lighthouse. Rather a lot of people were about, many of them foreign tourists. 3x zoom was a little limiting, but the picturesque surroundings almost guarantee a nice picture or two.
The fifth day of the African Development Roadshow was really enjoyable and promising. First thing in the morning we broke up into random groups and came up with answers to what were the best things about the workshop, what could be improved, and what the vision for future roadshows should be.
