The game

On Sunday, I played my first roleplaying game in about ten years, as part of a group that plays every week. Apparently, roleplaying is riding a bicycle, although I put quite a bit of effort into reintroduce myself to the rules beforehand. It's quite relaxing to take your mind off the real world for a bit (without a computer or TV screen shutting you off from people); I'll be continuing.

Been recovering from conference burnout and, I suspect, some nasty tiring disease. In between sleeping and work, I've been reading my Arcana Unearthed and other roleplaying books which arrived during the conference. I'm really impressed with the quality of Monte Cook's work on Arcana Unearthed and Diamond Throne, and at how a strong community is building up around these systems. Am going to set up a once-off adventure sometime soon, but still lots of preparation required. (And players...)

I've just sent in my order for the Dungeons & Dragons Core Rulebook Gift Set, Monte Cook's well-received Arcana Unearthed and the accompanying Diamond Throne campaign setting.

Well, maybe not addiction. Yet. For a few days now, I've been reminiscing my roleplaying childhood, and getting all excited about d20, Wizards of the Coast's Open Gaming roleplaying system, on which Dungeons and Dragons 3rd(.5fth) edition. I've mostly drooled over Green Ronin Publishing's d20 resources, and ejoyed reading Monte Cook's web site.
