Summary
Somewhat successful vacation week near Stanwood, going on a walk at Barnum Point, doing touristy things, taking photos, and so forth. Proactively got my part of income tax done as soon as the documents arrived.

Highlights
Sudokus, to me, feel most useful when debugging. Not necessarily the sudoku puzzle itself (although taking a break to do a sudoku can be a great way to clear my head), but the headspace that it invokes. Debugging involves the same interplay between intuition and proof that a sudoku does, and I use a similar approach in both cases.
– “Surprising Programmer Tools #53: The Sudoku”, Jonathan Frere
I think there’s quite a bit to the idea of how intuition and the ability to construct positive/negative tests to focus in on the right answer is similar in both systems/software debugging and Sudoku. During large incidents, it’s amazing how accurate the first guess of veteran responders gets with relatively little data (somewhere 50-80%), and also how quickly they’re able to put together a way to test their hypothesis. The same thing happens with Sudoku (especially variant Sudoku) - it gets easier to figure the likely type of “break-in” you should be looking for over time.
